This is a phenomenon that so many people have developed a natural habit to speak with dialects in public places. So, there comes a question that whether the dialects are acceptable in public places. Some People believe that is normal, others argue that is impolite. As far as I’m concerned, dialect translation contradicts the national initiative to promote Putonghua, or Mandarin, around the city, even the country. The dialects from all over the places are the treasure in the countries and they should be shared by everyone. The dialects should be acceptable in public places .first of all, as I have mentioned above, dialect belongs to the Chinese culture and it won’t be passed on to our children and grandchildren without sharing with each other or someone simply regards it as their own language .it is more than a tool of communication .secondly, mandarin can be rich by absorbing a lot of grammars as well as vocabularies. This is the perfection of Mandarin from thousands of years blend and contact .therefore, the dialect will enjoy more popularity all around our nation. Third, dialect is the only mean of communication to some undereducated local people. If local dialects are forbidden in the public places, they cannot communicate. To be more worse, people can be suffered regional differentiation. To arrive at a conclusion, dialects should be respected in public places. The advantages it takes cover the disadvantages and we’d better try our best to do what we can do to give the dialect deserved protection.
