The question of whether we are progressing or falling back is alway hard to answer. Different people may have completely different opinions. It is commonly believed that our society will become more and more developed, however, by comparing the current situation with about 100 years ago, some people do not agree with this argument. They think human race has failed in some areas. For example, the nature environment is obviously getting worse, and it seems that his worring trend can not be changed, even though it began to draw people's attention several years ago. Furthermore, there are still millions of people suffering from starvation, especially in developing countries. The gap between the rich and the poor is becoming larger, and it is not a solved by a short time. However, most of people are much more optimistic about human race. It is undeniable that we have made huge progresses in many areas, such as economy. The majority of this planet today are more wealthier than last century, and the mount of rich people is also larger than before and it keeps increasing. Due to the improvement of medical facilities, people can live longer than several years ago, which can produce more wealth. Personally, I think human race do become more developed in general, but there are still plenty of problems that we cannot ignore during the process of development.
