It is obvious that advertisements play an increasingly important role in our daily life. They show the characters and functions of products and influence consumer decision-making process. It is easy for people to choose the products they really need, because they contact varieties goods and services every day and are likely to get confused in their different appearances and function. The ads can help them to gain a better understanding of products. Ads can show the main advantages and prices of goods, so even customers have different preferences and disposable budgets they still can find the proper products. In addition, advertisements usually show some discount information, which can encourage people to buy the nice products with low price. On the other side, some advertisements not only can entertain but also educate people. For example, toothbrush's ads encourage people to protect their teeth, the water ads remind society of protecting the source of water. Many households appliances promote energy conservation, which is likely to stimulate consumer to purchase the eco-friendly products. However, the massive use of advertisements has some drawbacks. One of the disadvantages is that ads can mislead the customer. Some companies aim to boost their sale so they use false ads to exaggerate their products. For example, companies use beautiful and wrong picture to show their products and hire stars to talk about the using experience even though they never use, which damages the consumers’ interests. Some violent and sexual ads may attract teenagers to imitate. Children cannot tell the right and wrong so they are easily influenced by the bad ads. Even though advertisements have some shortcomings, we can take some measures to supervise the advertising use. Setting up a department to examine the ads and ban the ads that mislead people. Also customer needs to raise the awareness of protecting right. Having a simple understanding about products before they buy and resorting to the law when they are cheated by the false advertisement.
