Nowadays many countries put education in an important situation. Some people believe that students should be given a general education to learn a wild range of subjects while others argue that study particular subjects is good for career choice. I agree that children need to a general study to improve themselves. One of the reasons is that general education is more likely to cultivate a well-rounded person. Varieties of subjects can sharpen different skills of children. For example, learning math can improve their logical thinking skills, learning art can improve their artistic skills and studying literature can help them know about different cultures of different countries. Another reason is that students need to gain more knowledge and broaden their horizon. We face a knowledge-based society so we need more knowledge to get success in this competitive world. For instance, if someone can good at math as well as an instrument, he is more possible to be appreciated than those who only can get high score in math. In addition, generational education can help children find their real interesting things. The more subjects do the students learn, the more opportunities do they find the field they specialize in. However, if student study all subjects without any selection, they may waste time to learn something that completely do not suit them. Some professions need a long-time study and research such as doctor and athlete. Countries can centralize the resources on fostering the children who have the particular potential, which can save resources and contribute to social development. On the other side, students are easy to feel tired and stressful when they have to learn all of the subjects, which may causes them frustrated and unhappy. In conclusion, although focus on a narrow range of subjects is time-saving and reduce the learning burden on students, they lose chances to contact other fields and limit themselves in a particular career.
