It seems that more and more languages become extinct as social development. Some people believe that using fewer languages can make the life be easier and more convenient. But I think that the advantages of protecting languages outweigh the disadvantages in this case. It is important for governments to prevent their languages from destruction and respect their cultural heritage. Every country has it special language, which reflects the history of their change and symbolizes the customs and traditions. So language is a part of countries identity. If languages of some areas die out, it is difficult for us to gain a better knowledge about their culture development. On the other side, protecting languages can contribute to cultural diversity. We live in a multicultural society and we need a wide range of languages to decorate our life. For example, there are many languages in China and almost every nation has their own language. If the increasing languages are disappeare, the areas may lose their attraction to tourists thereby influence the tourism income. However, the varieties of languages may have negative effect on international trade and cooperation. They may find it difficult to share information and negotiate budgets when use different languages It will waste time to sign an agreement and hold back the improvement of living especially in poor area where people do not have knowledge and techniques. In addition, compared with using different kinds of languages, using the same languages is more likely to make people gain a sense of belonging. In conclusion, even though the decreasing languages can bring some benefit in some case, I think that we should protect our languages and choose to use a few languages as the main communication tool.
