With the development of society, people are paying more and more attention on their external appearances. Making up everyday and dressing themselves decently have been taken great serious by female and even male. This is partly due to the fact that many people tend to judge a person by his or her external appearances. However, regardless of the other aspects, it is not always wise to judge a person only by external appearances. As an old Chinese saying goes:"Don't judge a man by his looks". Indeed, in the majority of cases, we need more details and information to judge a person. My brother can attest that. He is not tall and he is a very thin boy. Many people who have a first glance at him might think that he is an undependable boy. And he doesn't wear any inside increased shoes or do any other things to make himself look like taller. He just wants to behave himself and he is really a real person. However, as a matter of fact, he is reliable and full of responsibility. Who can get the idea that he is a risker? He has travelled almost the whole country alone. He experienced many things that I cannot even image such as bungee jumping. He even saved a near-drowning child in the 1998 flooding over the Yangtze River. However, it is not to say the external appearances are trivial. As a matter of fact, it plays a giant role in many aspects, such as selecting an actor or hiring a receptionist. In these cases, the appearance of the actor can affect the show directly and the receptionist represents the image of a company. The external appearance must be taken into account. To sum up, external appearances can be rewarding, while it only works in special cases. To know a man better, it takes time.
