A discussion , ran by an English newspaper, on whether young people in China today are more self-centered and unsympathetic than were previous generations, has evoked a mixed response from the young to the old. Actually,before this discussion, the young generation has been labelled as the selfish and arrogant one.To this people's attitudes differ sharply. Some people say that youngsters are more self-centered and unsympathetic while others hold the opposite idea claiming that they are self-conscious and sympathetic . Personally, I am of the optimistic opinion. Admittedly,being the only child and spoiled by their parents and grandparents, some youngsters are only caring about themselves without considering others. This can be seen in some social cases, for example, a boy killed his mother simply for the reason that his mom refused his acquirement for more money.How terrible the boy is! However, as what I have said ,that kind of youngster is only a small part of the young generation.Most of them are self-conscious and sympathetic. Living in a modern society, the young generation has more opportunities to see the world out of their schools and families. Therefore, the desirability of this generation is not only to acquire knowledge in school, and they want more.What they care most is not the bright future but that wether today is meaningful or not. They are much more indepent in thouht than the previous generation. What's more, their personality of consideration is shown in our society.Thinking of those teenage volunteers who help others without asking for any reward, those students who share their books stationery with others who are in need and those yongsters who sacrified themselves to save others lives, you will find the fact that the young generation are as sympathetic as the previous generation. In views of what have been listed above, we can draw a conclusion that most of the yongsters are self-conscious and sympathetic.Therefor, it is unfair to give them such a bad label and there is no need for us to judge or criticize them. What we need to do is to return a free world to them.
