It seems to me that the cartoon is sending a message about a couple use computer to chat with their son and try to express their mood which missed the boy very much,they are only access to the internet seeing again. Which reveals now many homes want to communicate with their kids hardly. In my perspective of view, the phenomenon is bad to parents.
