Some people assert that rural areas are better places to live than cities. However, from my perspective, it’s too early to make the judgment without considering the factors below. First and foremost, rural areas are unlikely to be prosperous due to the small population. In these small towns, you hardly see elements of business. Modern shopping centers won’t be built since they are arduous to make profits in these places. The infrastructures are also limited, maybe no airports, no museums, or even little public transportation. To make matters worse, there are not sufficient jobs for youngsters, which make living in rural areas not a pleasure, especially for youths. Secondly, quite a lot rural areas don't have blue sky and fresh air as expected. Some people criticize big cities of too many cars emitting exhaust. But things going on in the countryside are many times as in cities, where exhaust are mainly from factories rather than just vehicles. Take my hometown as instance, which is a small town, where tens of factories were built along the river, turn the water to black. Moreover, they let out polluted air directly, turning the sky dark. The environment there is sacrificed to facilitate the development of economy, making it not a comfort zone to live in. On the contrary, crowded as the cities are, they still provide higher quality lives. That’s exactly why they are still attractive for people to move in. They come to cities, with the hope to achieve better development and self value. Definitely there are much more resources in cities than rural areas, wealth, education, entertainment and so on. Admittedly, to make a living in cities is not easier, but as the proverb goes, no pay no gain.
