The online courses offered by universities and colleges have changed the way of teaching. Although this method comes with certain problems, I do believe the benefits of it exceed the drawbacks. Admittedly, some opponents would argue that lecturers who teach online courses are unable to interact with their students and they even do not know who their students are. This issue would significantly impact their teaching quality since they cannot obtain the timely feedback from their students and are not aware of which part students are still confused about and requires further explanation. However, it is evident that online teaching is beneficial to the overall education industry in various spheres. The most obvious one is that students from every place around the globe can have this opportunity to learn the course they are keen for. They no longer need to travel from long distance or even overseas to sit in the classroom, or rent a place to live while they study far from home. All they need to do is to find a comfortable place and convenient time and concentrate on the online lectures. It saves the students large amounts of time and money. Additionally, from the universities’ point of view, online courses can help them save the utilities and reduce the need for classrooms. In conclusion, although online courses reduce the quality of teaching due to lack of interaction, they can be beneficial to both students and universities by providing convenience and saving money and resources.
