The online courses offered by universities and colleges have dramatically changed the way of teaching. Although this method comes with certain problems, I do believe the benefits of it exceed the drawbacks. Admittedly, some opponents would argue that lecturers who teach online courses are unable to interact with their students and they even do not know who their students are. This issue would significantly impact their teaching quality since they cannot obtain the timely feedback from their students and are not aware of which part students are still confused about and then requires further explanation. However, it is evident that online teaching is beneficial to the overall education in various spheres. One of them is that students from everywhere around the globe are offered this opportunity to learn the course they are keen for, regardless of time and venue. They are no longer required to travel from long distance or even overseas to sit in the classroom, or rent a place to live while they study away from home. Finding a comfortable place and convenient time to concentrate on the recorded online teaching videos is what they simply do. By doing so, considerable time and money can be saved. Additionally, from the universities’ point of view, online courses can help them reduce the utilities and demand for more classrooms. Students, teachers, universities and colleges are very happy. In conclusion, although online courses reduce the quality of teaching due to absence of interaction, they can be beneficial to both students and universities by providing convenience and saving money and resources.
