It has been increasingly common that TV programmes are transmitted non-stop. This trend is warmly welcomed by its supporters while is criticised by the opponents. In my opinion, this phenomenon comes with both benefits and drawbacks. Non-stop TV transmission is beneficial in some spheres. One example is that people are able to watch TV programmes any time they prefer. Even if it is late into the night, there are also interesting programmes available on TV that can entertain the nighters. According to a survey conducted by a joint effort of 5 leading universities in the US, 30% of 2000 interviewees admit that they will keep watching TV after midnight if they do not need to get up early the next day. On the other hand, people especially parents argue that TV programmes available after midnight will to some extent affect youngsters who do not have self-discipline. The youth may find the programmes attractive and they tend to stay up late in order to watch them. This would seriously impact their study and health. Therefore, they suggest TV programmes should also have a rest at night, not attracting the students. In conclusion, TV transmission throughout day and night can bring individuals convenience and entertainment, but it may also exert a negative impact on the youth, whose health and study may be influenced.
