Past few decades have witnessed the larger extent of independence as the younger generations have performed when selecting choices from diversity ones. Accordingly, as one of them, I believe youngsters nowadays are more reluctant to receive the decisions from their parents than the past. To begin with, accessed to disparate resources of information owing to the development of technology, adolescents are more likely to draw a definite end by synthesizing valuable advices instead of picking it up merely from parents. It is universally acknowledged that limitations are unavoidable to all kinds of individuals from a political leader of a nation in the progresses of enacting the Laws of one sex love to a worker hesitate to choose a delicacies exhilarant restaurant from a street. So do the parents. According to Social Investigate of China, a renowned Chinese documentary, we have learned about that the prevailing claims from the teenagers have already changed to “Why not incorporate more voices to make the decisions myself?” Besides, the story of my mother and I, when opting for the desirable universities and majors, would add great weight to my viewpoint. After graduating from high school, without the elementary teaching courses of careers throughout, my mother did not have the basic understanding of the majors she probably fascinated, as well as her classmates. Despaired as she was for sake that nobody was capable to solve her problems at that time, she turned to her parents seeking choices. However, as for me, the major and university selecting procession is another story. On the verge of graduation in high school, I have signed up in Renren—an influential social software in which I have connected with the college students with distinctive majors. Acquainting with my conditions, they recommended me to choose my current major—Finance due to the passion I have in stock, funds and other investment fields. Does not like my mother, I have finish the decision on my own. Moreover, parent`s opinion gradually lose their power since the generation gap has been enlarged these years. Fancy, novelty and creativity, as the typical label for the new generation of 90s and 00s, are apparently diverse from the characteristic of their parents like conventional and conservative, triggering divergences and disagreements more easily. When making decisions, these young adults more willing to come up with unique ideas and follow their own patterns of life which are not confined to studying, such as attending show programs to be popular, operating their own businesses to earn life expenditures, and so on. On the contrary, parents are more likely to be decision receptors rather than participants as the past they were. From the cases presented above, being exposed to update technological and innovative world, young people become increasingly self-supporting and self-determination.
