To answer this question directly involves considering the purpose for advertising. Just based upon our common sense, the aim to advertise is nearly hundred percent for selling more commodity. Therefore, I am nearly completely agree that advertising is to encourage consumers to buy in bigger quantity. We can take the mobile phones promotion as an example. Hereby no concrete brand names will be mentioned lest legal disputes should occur. When a new type was designed and made ready for sale, then the ads should have been also designed for promotion based upon the new type’s technical feature or advantages compared with previous type. We can find it very natural to advocate the new product’s quality as a special bright point to attract the audience’s attention, and this may obviously assist convincing people to accept the products, and consequently make them happy to pay. Seen from this case, promoting for quality has no contradiction with for quantity at all. On the contrary, emphasizing and projecting a goods’ quality will positively affect the consumers’ buying option. The reason why the people of all over the world like to use electrical appliances made by Japan is just because Japanese manufacturers focus more on the quality of its products. Although quality is not the sole cause for higher price and greater sales volume, without quality, the price and sales volume will have no solid ground. In conclusion, my point of view is that I almost fully agree that advertising is for more sales volume, furthermore, if appropriately projecting a products’s quality, it will be a better salesmanship.
