It is evident that there are increasing violent scenes on TV, affecting individuals' views on crimes to some extent. As far as I am concerned, I agree with the opinion that people who often see violent movies have a higher chance to commit a crime. First of all, when people see more crimes on TV, they may tend to be indifferent with those crimes and view them as normal. That is to say, it may change the social value of individuals, making crimes a common thing for them. According to a joint effort of 5 leading institutions in the US and the UK, 70% of interviewees, who watch violent films regularly, have expressed that they are likely to commit a crime when they are violated by someone else whereas the figure for interviewees who seldom watch those films is only 40%. Secondly, the violence portrayed on TV is well organised and detailed and therefore it provides the instructions for people who want to become criminals but have no idea how to start. The tools and techniques employed by the criminals on TV are leading the audiences to a horrible situation where they can learn how to be criminals with high success rate and fewer mistakes. And those people who acquire the skills are the potential threats to the society. In conclusion, individuals are more likely to become criminals if they often watch violent scenes as their value will be altered and they could also be equipped with the skills.
