China is a country with a long history and plentiful culture. People in different areas use different dialects to communicate with each other. So people may argue that dialects are not supposed to be used in public places. However, as far as I am concerned, as a tool for communication, dialects are just acceptable in public places. First of all, dialect is an emblem of a culture. It originates from a certain place and thus represents the social values there. It is easier for people from the same place to communicate in their dialects. Furthermore, some uneducated people may not be able to speak Manderin. All that they know about is their own dialect.
