Today, volunteer work has been regarded as an assessment of students’ performance in many high schools. Providing free services for communities is beneficial to developments of students, while some improper unpaid services may cause some problems. Students can improve their qualities by participating volunteer work. When they are engaged in community services, they would be confronted with challenges which are rare in school. For example, if students are required to organize charity activities, they should communicate with different donors and staffs. They can get a good understanding of how a charity operates as well as develop a social network, which is important for their career prospects in the future. Another advantage of working as a volunteer is that young people can learn to be responsible and how to serve communities. When students complete work perfectly, they would get a sense of achievement, which can motivate to do more things contributing to society. It helps to establish a peaceful and closely –knit community. On the other hand, we should recognize the downside of offering voluntary services in senior schools. Some activities are not well-organized, young people may not be interested in them and end up losing confidence. These less significant services would take up students’ study time, so that students can not concentrate on their study, which would lead to their poor academic performance in school. In conclusion, participating in volunteer work is good for students’ future developments, and school should provide good work to ensure students to get rewarding experience.
