At the time the computer was invented, scientists, carried away by its calculating speed, felt that they had created a miracle. Although a computer works much faster and accurately than man , a fact is undeniable; it is designed, manufactured and programmed by man, and therefore by human beings. Of course, science fictions have made up many fascinating stories about a computer, or rather robot, who conquers man and the earth, even the whole universe; however, they are only unrealistic imagination. A horse helps man a lot runs much faster than we, but it is only a slave. The future for the computer is very promising. With the help of it, we can do things that could not be done before. Conquering the universe, discovering new things, explaining mysteruiys phenomena puzzling us at present are all made possible by computer. When people succeed, it is because of hard work. Luck has nothing to do with success. When people succeed,it is because of hard work.Luck has nothing to do with success. Do you agree or disagree with the quotation above?use specific reasons and examples to explain your position. It is true that success arises from hard work,and I believe no one can achieve success merely by luck.Yet I do not agree that luck has nothing to do with success, because,in my opinion,it is all a question of degree ,so that it is too radical to assert that luck has no impact on one's success. Strictly speaking,luck is ,in a sense,kind of opportunity that only those who are devoted to hard work can get full use of .So from this angle,luck is not contradictory to hard work. For example,in the field of business, there are so many chances to create values but not so many people are willing to try. Why? Because these chances, always highly risky as it is, demand experience and technique,and no one can assure that he can get benefit. From this example,I can conclude that without luck we may fail ,but without the expertise , courage and passion for work even luck cannot help. Therefore luck is associated with hark work in some degree. Moreover luck is usually a quite important factor in some fields. We can imagine if one scientist does not observe a new physical phenomenon by accident, others would find it someday . So it is rather hard to say the first one who gets his fame by discovering something new in nature ascribes his success completely to hard work. Luck works since luck is like a just a gift bestowed by God , when a group of scientists embark on the same study, it is more or less by some random factors that decide who will get the a satisfactory result. In this sense,I think we cannot deny luck as a factor impacting on one's success. Finally,although luck does impact on one's success, but the impact by luck is not so vital as hard work does because what we can determine is whether we committed ourselves to our work,however we cannot determine when luck will knock on our doors. Therefore a more practical view toward success is keeping working hard but put an eye on luck, for luck might knock on the door someday. ??When people succeed, it is because of hard work, but luck has a lot to do with it, too. Success without some luck is almost impossible. The French emperor Napoleon said of one of his generals, “I know he’s good. But is he lucky?” Napoleon knew that all the hard work and talent in the world can’t make up for bad luck. However, hard work can invite good luck. ??When it comes to success, luck can mean being in the right place to meet someone, or having the right skills to get a job done. It might mean turning down an offer and then having a better offer come along. Nothing can replace hard work, but working hard also means you’re preparing yourself opportunity. Opportunity very often depends on luck. ??How many of the great inventions and discoveries came about through a lucky mistake or a lucky chance? One of the biggest lucky mistakes in history is Columbus’ so-called discovery of America. He enriched his sponsors and changed history, but he was really looking for India. However, Columbus’ chance discovery wasn’t pure luck. It was backed up by years of studying and calculating. He worked hard to prove his theory that the world was round. ??Success that comes from pure luck and no hard work can be a real problem. For example, consider a teenage girl who becomes a movie star. ??Imagine she’s been picked from nowhere because of her looks. She is going to feel very insecure, because she knows she didn’t do anything to earn her stardom. On the other hand, think about an actress who’s spend years learning and working at her craft. When she finally has good luck and becomes a success, she will handle stardom better, she knows she earns it. People who work hard help make their own luck by being ready opportunity knocks.
