A new ocean aquarium recently opened in Guangzhou City, providing the public with the opportunity to view sea animals and learn about their life. But not everyone is happy. Those who oppose the practice of keeping sea animals in aquariums argue that the basic concept of "displaying animals to public for entertainment" is unacceptable. No human would accept being locked away and denied the opportunity to explore the world. The same logic works in case of animals. Humans cannot boast of being a superior species yet deny freedom to another group of animals simply for their own amusement. Supporters of aquariums and zoos, on the other hand, say that such facilities, help protect endangered animals, raise public awareness about the need for environmental protection and educate the public.
