There is absolutely no question that no other species on this planet are as ambitious as human being. Especially the past 100 years witnessed an eruption of human being’s intelligence and subsequently revolutionary developments on many aspects of our life. The first one hit to the list is information technology on which the other industries build their modern models. Banks with advanced global system make international business possible and convenient; Social networks bridge the gap between persons living across the ocean; Digital contents transferred by electronic products keep people updated. Another one cannot be missed is medical science. In the whole history of human being, population has never been as big as it is now, and the primary contributing factor is modern medicine. Finally, women can survive from the pain of childbearing, and the infant mortality dropped plummeted as well as more and more diseases do not pose challenges to people’s life. Nonetheless, problems come along with progresses. Just as drug may have side effects, the developments we have gained brought headaches, too. A truth we usually ignore is the manufacturing of electronic products consumes huge natural resources and causes enormous pollution. Modern medicines defeat virus and germs, but also stimulate their evolution and then emerge new type of diseases. People become more and more dependent on pills and transfusion, so their immune systems weaken, and the overall trend is human’s physical state is declining. To keep balance between progress and problem is not an easy job, but as long as we hold the basic faith that what we are doing is to make our life better and make this planet a better place to live, we will find expedient way to reach our goals.
