The Dragon Boat Festival The Dragon Boat Festival, or the Duanwu Festival is one of the important festivals in China on the 5th day of the 5th moon of the lunar calendar. Nowadays ,The Dragon boat Festival is in memory of a poet named Qu Yuan who was in Chu Dynasty. And on this days ,there are many customs among Chinese peoples. To speak of QU Yuan ,that is no one who doesn’t know him in china. He is a outstanding poet who had written a lot of famous poems. And he is also famous as loving his dynasty .In his time ,it is Chu Dynasty .He is the first patriotic poet in our history. Finally he ended his life by jumping over the river. . because he is so grieved of his country is conquered . In the later , The Dragon boat Festival is in memory of him. Nowadays, there is the customs of eating rice dumplings and racing dragon-boat , putting Astemisia argyi on home ,and wearing a sachet. Naturally , rice dumplings is the most widely circulated customs. On this day , people will prepare sticky rice and bamboo leaves to make rice dumplings ,and also has some mixed ingredients such as beans, meat, red dates.....the rice dumplings taste is different in different regions . Northern people like the sweet rice dumplings , southern people like the salty dumplings . All of people will eat the rice dumplings on that day . And in the most southern regions , people also racing the dragon-boat . In the total, The customs is for celebrate the festival and to memory the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan. And I think it is also a day can gather family members together , and do some family activities together . so it is a day to have a reunion and memory of the great poet and to remember the history.
