Communication refers to the social process of transferring and exchanging information or understanding of two or more persons or groups, which occupies an essential position in management, especially the personnel-management. Only with the channels of communication between people smooth can the messages be transferred quickly and clearly. Not only can it promote the communications among people, but also enable us to learn about our living environment. What’s more, effective communication is more of an important performance of constructing a modern harmonious society. In this competitive society, to have an effective communication with others is indispensable since it’s the first step towards success, and it’s necessary in not only interpersonal interaction but also in the future work and study. To make effective communications, from my point of view, we are supposed to at least do the following. Firstly, be clear about the purpose of communications. Provided that we communicate just for communication, then it must turn out to be so-called ineffective communication. Secondly, distinguish the target of communication. It’s people that we communicate with. Those people vary from person to person, and the person of different personalities fits with different ways of communication. For instance, some are introverted while others are out-going and some are visual while others are auditory. It would be better for us to distinguish all of those from communications. Thirdly, adopt appropriate methods of communication. Usually, there are many methods to communicate including in oral, in writing, telephone, video and so on. Use different kinds of methods according the various matters. Last but not least, it’s mastery of the art of communication. Among various kinds of communication skills, the most significant are those three things, more listening, less specking and skillful asking. To listen more is to understand other well, while to speak less is to leave the chance for other to speak more so that we can learn about their needs and purposes. All in all, effective communication is an indispensable way of communication in people's life, and it’s also an essential quality. To learn how to make effective communications, to master the skills of effective communication and to use it in necessity and contingency would have our work get twice the result with half the effort.
