However, this “peace” time has not last for long, one day when Paul and Denver came back to home, the young woman who claims herself as Beloved sitting at the front of 124 Bluestone, and Sethe adopts her. Therefore, dead people can communicate to live people, even they can summon the dead people and bring them back to live. In the novel, due to the strong love and guilty of Sethe, her daughter appeared again, who aim to recover herself identity in the family and punish the others. The physical characteristics and the way she talks all indicated that she is the dead daughter. When Sethe first time meets Beloved, she found that her skin is new and soft like a baby. In addition, she found out that there is a scar on her neck where she cut the throat of her daughter with a handsaw. There are also some evidences shows that she is her daughter: she asked about where Sethe’s earrings， why without seeing them; She knows the song Sethe used to sing to the baby, which only known by Sethe and her baby daughter. The family does not accept beloved in the first place. In the beginning, Sethe does not consider Beloved as her dead daughter. She even told Denver that Beloved is poor slave girl who escape from her master. However, she notices that Beloved is the murdered daughter gradually. She believed that her daughter kept in a “safe place”. In addition, when she comes back to this house, Paul D. forced her out. However, she drives her up the wall, so she comes back in a living body. Denver also accepts Beloved as a member of the family. She believes Beloved is the one who haunted the house and now being a real human. Finally, she confirms that Beloved is her elder sister. Toni Morrison once said in an interview that there were several roles which she wanted Beloved to play．One of Beloved’s identities is spirit that is how Sethe imagines her; therefore, she must consist with that description in the novel. This could explain that Sethe and Denver feel Beloved is the dead baby.
