Sample 1 In the reading passage, it talks about whether Ethanol fuel will become the alternative of gasoline. In the listening material, the professor talks about the same issue. However, the professor holds different ideas. Firstly, in the reading passage, it notes that ethanol fuel, like gasoline, will product carbon dioxide in the air, which will not ease global warming problem. However the professor indicates that the Ethanol fuel is made by plants. When these plants grow, they absorb the carbon dioxide and counteract the effects. In addition, in the reading material, it says that the production of ethanol fuel will decrease the food for animals. In the lecture, the professor indicates that there are lands not responsible for food production, and this land can be used to grow plants for Ethanol fuel production. As a final point, the reading material argues that the price of Ethanol fuel is not competing after receiving the tax subsidies from the government. The professor indicates that the price of ethanol fuel will go down as more people use it. In conclusion, the reading passage does not think ethanol fuel is a replacement for gasoline, on the concentrate; the professor thinks ethanol fuel is promising.
