some people claim that compared to education , prison is a less effective measure when dealing with the criminal issues ; Personally , though think education is a better option ,which in long term will generate a positive effect to the society , still believe that prison is also necessary ; in the long term , educating the mass is of course a more effective and positive measure to reduce criminal rate ; because by teaching the mass to distinguish right from wrong , and to be aware of the consequence of their behaviors , government are able to change the criminals' attitude toward the events and would prevent criminals from doing illegal things ; rather than simply being threatened by prison , the criminals will be aware of the moral wrongness themselves and will be unwilling to do anything harmful to others ;so , education is considered as a very powerful tool in shaping people's upright minds; however , does it mean that prison is useless at all ? of course not ; to some extent , prison is another valid measure to reduce crime rate and protect safety of society ; in other word , prison acts as a deterrent when potential criminals want to commit to crime; and it also tells the criminals that they' re responsible for the negative consequence of their behaviors ; furthermore , prisoners are kept so that people in the society would not be harmed ; so , no one can deny that prison is necessary and plays a positive role in maintaining the social stability; to conclude , education and prison should work hand in hand , so that a more pleasing result will come in handling with the criminal issue;
