Obviously, most people hold the idea that a teacher should be respected by his/her students for they obtain the knowledge from him/her. However, if we do not understand the real meaning of respect, we do not have right to judge a student whether he/her show respect for his/her teacher or not. Respect means two person stand on the equal position to communicate, it means that there is no authority. Consequently the degree of respect between students and teacher depends on people’s attitude of education. If people believe that the education is just that teachers teach and students learn, there is no respect at all. However when people hold the idea that education is the way to help students to understand the world as well as provide the opportunities for teachers to communicate with young generation, the meaning respect has been revealed through the thought. Some people believe that students do not show respect for their teachers as they did in the past. This opinion is ridiculous. Students and teachers now have more wise thought than before, they have deeper understand of education than before. So they definately show more respect mutually. For example, when my father was a high school students, they always did not attend to classes. They regarded study as a kind of burden. They also believed that teachers taught them just for earning life, but not for education. So although they seemed to show a great respect for their teachers, they have to do this for the school command them. It is obvious that if students can not realized the purpose of education, they can hardly be respectful for their teachers in their deep mind. As the development of the education, increasingly students aware that the education can benefit their life and future. To some degree, education become more spontaneous than before. In this way, students are more easily to show respect for their teacher. I have a young brother. He is the high school student now holding the idea that teachers are respectable because teachers in his school has very responsible attitude on their study, and always help them to solve not only the problems in study but also daily life problems. Some time students in their school show skeptic to their teacher in some academic topic. Maybe some one consider student should not query teacher, but as far as I am concerned, it precisely prove that students have the equal position when they discuss the academic things which means the fundamental of the respect. Students show more respect than they did before for they have a better understand of education so that they show the real respect to their teachers but not just superficial one.
