First, people can't change their looking because it's born with them. Some people are actually kind but they just get a very scary face, which is decided by their genes. In the literature world, beauty often appears along with kindness. However, in real life, at least so far, there is no any data showing that characters have anything to do with lookings. What's more, makeup and dressing can in some way change the way people look. That is to say, appearance is a changeable thing, and it is not necessarily consistent with people's mind.
