An optimist is never easily defeated. The great musician Beethoven struggled against his deafness and composed the soul-stirring Fifth Symphony "Destiny", which could be interpreted as a saying that suffering is inevitable, but the courage and optimism to fight it render life worth living. Let me take the undergraduate entrance examination for another example. Even though the day-to-day preparation for the exam can be soul-crushingly hard and tired, we strongly believe the very things that right now dampen our moods can later be sources of intense gratification and delight.
