Nowadays, many students do not pay much attention to the spelling of English words, so they may have problems in their writing, this shortcoming can even influence their listening of English. As far as I'm concerned, here are two main reasons for this problem. On the one hand, in Englisih exam, the choice questions that account for a large proportion, students even do not look the words clearly, but they can choose the right answer. On the other hand, more and more students look highly on their spoken English, so they spend a lot of time on it, in oder to speak a fluent English, and ignore the basis of English- words. We can do something to improve our spelling ability, such as dictating the English words by teachers or classmates, taking some good sentences and passages, or pay more attention to the choice questions' options, recognizing their difference,
