Are Dialects Just as Acceptable in Public Places? In every country all over the world, there are various ethnics. People from different ethnic groups may speak one language with different accents. Apart from accents, which leads to a kind of dialect, some people in one area may speak a language people in another place can`t understand. But we must acknowledge the diversity of our dialects. In my view, I firmly believe that dialects are acceptable in public places. I will support my opinion by giving an elaboration on the development of dialects in terms of the languages English and Chinese. Firstly, given the language of English as an example, which is the most widely used language in the world, nowadays, we have various of branches of English, including American English, British English, Australian English, Indian English and so on. While in British English, there are London English and many other sects of British English, and there are different accents from the middle class to lower class in the UK as well, so does the American English. But even the language English has so many sects, people in America , the UK,India, Australia, can understand each other very well. The language English proves the widespread acceptance of dialects. Secondly, taking the language Chines as another case study, whose speakers are most in the world, it has various dialects in different places. In China, there are seven major dialects , which are spoken in Sichuan-Chongqing Provinces, Guangxi Province, Hubei province , Fujain province, Shanxi province, and so forth. People in the south and north of China speak Chinese with different accents , but they can understand each other. When they come back to their hometown they again speak their own dialects while communicating with local people.In this case, we witness the acceptance of dialects in Chinese language. Therefore, taking the cases of dialects in the languages of English and Chines, we can draw a conclusion that dialects are acceptable in public places.
