The most important thing to me being a teacher is that I feel happy, motivated and grateful when I help my students make progress, explore their talents and strengths, overcome difficulties and challenges in their study, engage in group work, increase learning interests and confidence, and build a sense of trust with students and even their parents through positive communication. I think education is equal to everyone whoever is a little kid or an adult learner returning from workplace, an old veteran or a disabled student. These beliefs are my backbones of being a teacher lifelong.Moreover, I want to make teaching practice be a creative art production, which means that teachers can conduct differentiated instruction based on students’ various experiences, backgrounds and needs by picking, changing and designing teaching methods. Your program designs a professional course curriculum that includes linguistics, teaching approaches, SLA theories, etc. together with comprehensive and innovative teaching resources that can benefit my future teaching practice. Also, the fieldwork is appealing for me to experience local classroom teaching and learning in the US, and collect and analyze data and practice both individually and collaboratively as an active researcher. Conducting an action research in fieldwork on the difference of American and Chinese language teaching in real classrooms may help me solve my puzzle about how to narrow the gap between American and Chinese counterpart English learners. In addition, I’m also interested in research projects such as Dr. Amador's research on second language learning. Lastly, you own a rich pool of experienced faculty group with diverse backgrounds and teaching experiences. I’m thrilled that this program can fully match my future work expectation as an outstanding educator by preparing practices and strategies to meet education challenges in China.
