The recent years have seen a growing number of incidents of schoolyard violence in an endless stream, and violent means have been becoming increasingly cruel and arbitrary. What factors should be responsible for vicious campus violence and what we can do to tackle the problem have become a concern to the public. For my part, the following factors should be taken into consideration. The first and most important factor is improper family education. Nowadays, Chinese family always only have one child and some parents spoiled their child so much that they won’t let other children hurt their baby a little bit. The overprotected manner gives rise to use incorrect ways to resolve conflicts. In addition, due to the overindulgence of the parents, a sizable percentage of only children who get into the habit of self-centered thinking way are less likely to control their moods. Another important factor is education method of school. Most schools put much emphasis on the teaching quality, thus ignoring the mental growth of the students. Besides, the exam-oriented education imposes/put heavy pressure on students. Provided that they can’t find proper outlets for this pressure, they are more likely to show a propensity for violence. Finally, such an adverse/negative impact the internet, such as online games, that is saturated/inundated with violent and bloody scenes can have on the students that they learn to imitate the violent behavior. Increasing evidence suggests that the effects of being bullied do not end with childhood. The psychological and physical damage, such as anxiety and depression, can continue into adulthood. With the situation so serious, it is high time that we took some effective measures to tackle this issue. To begin with, enhancing school-family collaboration, they must teach children to prevent from being bullied and understand and respect others. Besides, children should get away from these movies television and cyber/network/online/internet games are filled with scenes of bloody violence. Finally, as far as I am concerned, students with severe behavioral problems should be transferred to special schools suitable to their needs, or in more serious cases should receive administrative or criminal penalties. In conclusion, family and school should attach much importance to physical and mental health of students and something should be done as soon as possible to deal with the problem. I believe, the effective combination of the solutions mentioned above will protect the students’ benefits and enable them to live safer in school/on campus.
