As is described in the picture, the man makes use of his computer in the study and he is complaining to his wife that he just feels unfortunate to live in a world with so much misleading information. This picture suggests the harm caused by misleading information online, with which I totally agree. Although through the Internet information can be widely accepted, there are lots of deficiencies of network. The aged-old saying “A coin has two sides” is never truer in technological fields especially in the online word which is virtual and variable. Thus, people are more likely to be agitated by intentional media. For instance, when the earthquake happened in Japan several years ago, the rumor that salts are in short spread all over the Internet, causing great panic and storage of salts. Misleading information online is like a wolf wearing the mask of sheep. It consumes public’s trust and sympathy consequently will lead to social instability and chaos. In conclusion, I sincerely hope that our government can promote supervision and strengthen the penalty on spreading misleading information. We’d better think twice before we choose to trust the message.
