Punishment and award With the development of information era, many teachers and parents incline to adopt award methods to stimulate children study. A skinner,a well-known behaviorist and psychologist deems that award is much more effective than punishment in a teaching situation. As far as i am concerned, reward and punishment play the same important role in teaching situation. There are some reasons to support my view. On the one hand, reasonable reward is a good way in teaching situation. Students’ interest will be stimulated by this way. They will spend much time learning rather than playing. In addition, using reward abusively, the teacher won’t achieve the expected target. On the other hand, appropriate punishment contributes to teaching. For a naughty child, appropriate punishment will gain unexpected effects. Such as, while the teacher is teaching, two naughty boys fight each other. This teacher can adopt the punishment measure to curb naughty boys. In conclusion, only when the teachers use the award and punishment measures reasonably,can the teachers achieve expected targets..
