Another example, “A piece of cake” the whole meaning is “很容易的事”, but does not represent a single word of a meaning, and does not mean that the composition of the idiom. It can be seen from the two examples that English idioms meaning can not be understood by a single word of each idiom, although the meaning of each word can be understood. Therefore, English idioms are an inseparable unity in semantics.
