As far as I am concerned, I am in fancy of the statement that the higher education should just open to elite students who are qualified for it. While it is an ideal suggestion that higher education should be open to everyone without concerning their background, but it cannot be realized at present. But we can set that idea as our goal in the future to be realized. The reasons why we cannot open higher education to everyone without taking their background into consideration are as follows: To begin with, higher education is a kind of elite education in many counties. Taking China as an example, there are 1.6 billion people in China, it is impossible for the university to open to such a large number of people to receive higher education. So that is why we have entrance examinations for higher education, with the purpose to choose those who are qualified to receive higher education. Secondly, the objective of the higher education is to cultivate people with special talents in some areas. The development of our society is largely depend on the personnel who obtained knowledge from higher education, they can contribute to the progress of our society. So it is easy for the higher education to train and educate a small number of talents. Last but not least, we do not have educational resources to offer opportunities for everyone to receive higher education. So, even though the government is trying to invest funds to higher education to ensure more people can have chance to receive education, while it can not be realized at once, it takes time to fulfill the dream. All in all, the higher education should just open to elite students who meet the qualificaitons at the present.
