Our living standards have incredibly improved due to the widespread of the Internet which helps us in many ways. We use it as a tool for working, studying, playing and even making friends. However, in my eyes, it is not wise to make friends online in that the harm outgrows the benefits. First of all, people do make friends through the Internet, nonetheless, some of them even don't know the "real" person with whom they are getting along. There are numerous pieces of news that people are cheated out of money by their online friends. Because people can disguise when they chat on online, we are tend to be fooled by certain bad guys who deliberately harness the Internet to set a trap for the public. The other reason that I oppose to make friends is that people may be addicted to the virtual world in which they can pretend the person that they want to be. It concerned me that the citizens would spend more time on chatting online rather than face to face. Social skills are indispensable in our lives, nevertheless it need to be practiced during the process of coping with people from various backgrounds. Having a number of friends on the Internet doesn't mean that you excel in dealing with the relationship around you, on the contrary, even bad at it. According to the discussion above, we can arrive at the conclusion that it is not wise to make friends online. It will be nicer if we attach more importance to the practical lives and make friends through a traditional way, namely taking time to get to know a person in the practical world.
