2013年考研英语作文预测话题：沟通的意义

My thought on why we should talk to strangers? I agree with the topic of this video. Talk to strangers does have many benefits including liberate you and fleeting intimacy, for instance, broaden our horizons, as we may come from different cities or countries, have different cultural backgrounds. Lack of confidence makes it difficult for me to communicate with others, although I am willing to do it. The talk between strangers and me often occurs when the strangers are exocentric and active. Most of the conservations give me emotional enjoyment and partly benefit me greatly. But I am still not good at sociality. One important reason is security as mentioned by Kio Stark. There is a point that I disagree is people believe strangers are dangerous by default. I think most people know that not every stranger is dangerous. They just can’t afford to ignore that small part of insecurity. In China, there is an old saying, our body, skin and hair is a heritage from our parents which shouldn’t be damaged, and that’s the fundamental of “Filial Piety”. So the key problem we should study is that when to be friendly, and when not to be. That’s what I expected when I first saw the headline. In summary, it is a good speech, but not stirring enough. In fact, this is the first time I’ve heard of the viewpoint-talking to strangers be useful for learning English. I guess what it really wants to express is that talking to foreigners, for that each country has its own universal language, and English is the accepted common language among all countries in the world. If that’s the case, I think there are three reasons. Firstly, English is a useful and only tool when you talk with people from other countries. Next, we are usually curious about person of different cultural background. Finally, foreigners often have no malice for they have no intersection before and communicate with local people is necessary in other countries. If you meet someone like-minded, you will study and practice English more. And our spoken English can improve by more talking. So, talking to foreigners is useful for learning English.
