I don't agree that snap judgments can never be trusted. Firstly, snap judgments sure they were made quickly. However, I think snap judgments may reflect what you really want or need. Sometimes, when we made a decision, we list pros and cons on every side. Even, you think that decision or judgment may benefit you, and after you made the decision or judgment you may not happy. For example, when I got my Ph.D degree and I decide to work in institute of Pomology, Chinese academic of agriculture sciences. I think a lot about this decision and I feel so unhappy here. So that, even this work I can made much more money than work in other university and maybe much easier to be promoted, I still unhappy. In a word, some judgment or decision may not need to think a lot. Secondly, snap judgements can be trusted. I think we made all kinds of snap judgements. For example, when we drive on the road and an emergence event were suddenly occurred like a cat suddenly on the road, we have to make a snap judgment to avoid it. Sometimes, as an Simultaneous interpreter, even we prepared lots of materials for this meeting, we often meet unfamiliar words and in that condition we should rely on our snap judgment to interpreted quickly. In sum, we always say that the first impression is very important for a person. Here, i want to say snap judgement is very important and can be trusted.
