In accordance with what is vividly depicted in the bar chart above,we can observe distinctly that some significant changes have taken place in the past years with regard to the numbers of both professors and students involved in cheating in their academic activities.The incidents of academic cheating involving both professors and students have been on a steady rise from 2003 to 2007. It is of no difficulty for us to put forward some factors responsible for this phenomenon.In the first place,the supervision system practiced in universities is very week.There is seldom any effective investigation into professors'publications for signs of plagiarism and students'exams and graduation papers.Therefore,the numbers of both professors and students cheating in their academic activities rose sharply.In the second place,some folks tend to overlook the seriousness of the problem in their attention to the quantity,rather than quality,of academic outcomes of both professors and students.Thus,cheating and plagiarism come into its own. So far as I am concerned,I think that we should take some actions to put an end to this increasingly serious problem.On the one hand,we have to adopt the correct approach to judging academic results by paying more attention to the quality instead of the quantity.On the other hand,a stronger supervision and effective method should be introduced to meet the increasingly demand of fighting cheating.Only by doing so can we eradicate the phenomenon.
