No ink has been spilled on the statement that whether snap judgements can be be trusted, and some claims that first impression is always misleading. Such claims, torn to pieces by others because it fail to take all circumstances into consideration. As far as I concern, this statement is complex and need a thorough analysis before we can draw the conclusion. First of all, we all know that people can make mistakes, no matter how much time you spend on a certain issue. If snap judgement and after-consideration judgement are both unreliable when it comes to a choice-making stage, perhaps relying on a snap judgement is more effective and less painful. Take myself as an instance, I used to be hesitating about which one of the two high school should I enrolled eventually, though I have visited those two school in person but I know that some variables, such as learning atmosphere and classmates' friendliness, can never been known for sure. So I choice the school that I preferred at my first glance, and my three years' high school career ends up being pretty well. That is the circumstance when snap judgement should be trusted. Snap judgement can also be used in emergence situation. A thoroughly made judgement may be a best one, but people will not have time to make it when something dangerous happens just in front of your face. I have see a video ,in which a young men dragged a drown girl from river and tried to do emergency life-saving assistance to bring her back. Tough lack of professional medical knowledge needed, he still saved the drown girl with old unscientific methods instead of just waiting for ambulance to come, which may take more than one hour. It can be seen that though snap judgement is not so trustworthy, it do functions well under some certain environment. I believe that snap judgement is the reflection of our deep-down cognition that will feedback us with the result of an action before shows us the cause. And since the judgement is also an outcome of brain's work, it should have some consulting value after all. Based on the previous discussion, the issue whether snap judgement is trustworthy is conflicted and need a case by case analysis. We are not supposed to disregard those situations where the statement is unjustifiable. As a result, I can not totally agree with the statement.
