The author in the reading holds that there should have an option about how long to work for employees. maybe they can choose to work four-day week and accept lees pay. While the lecturer in the lecture expresses an opposite opinion. To begin with, the author claims that the decreasing in worktime means the more time to rest. With the enough energy the employee to avoid errors. And employees will be paid four-day wage. However, the lecturer refutes that it will need more people to accomplish the staff, which means the company will spend more money to recruit staffs and to train the working skills. The bigger working space must be prepared for more workers. Moreover, the author believes that the fewer overworked error prone employees that can create more profit for company. And the government will take a breath of the reducing unemployment rate. On the contrary, the lecturer rebuts that the company may arrange employee to work overtime to decrease the spending. Finally, the author puts forward that the less worktime not only giving people more time to enjoy the life, but also increasing the qualified of relationship between parents and children. Instead, the lecturer retorts that short worktime will decrease the ability of work and increase the risk of losing job.
