As students with very limited money, we are always careful with our money in daily life. We feel enthusiastic about collecting all kinds of coupons and looking for group-buy deals when consuming, and we are reluctant to buy clothes unless in sale. All these seemingly smart ways of consuming are to spend less money. But some people think that all this may not make us smart consumers, which means we may waste more money on unnecessary consumption. I agree with this opinion. Actually, I reckon that the main purpose of coupons or group-buy deals or other sales that can help us saving some money is to attract more consumers' attention and then increase consuming to gain more profits. So nowadays the promotion activities are quite popular in any consuming fields, which would mislead us to buy more goods with a thought that they are very cheap in the rare chance. In fact, there are plenty of goods we don't need at all, but the obvious difference between the original price and current price may make us think we will save a lot. That's why our expenditure is often beyond our own expectation. In conclusion, these apparently smart ways may utilize our illusion that we are lucky to meet the rare chance to encourage us to buy more. So I think we should think before buying in order to buy something we really need or want, which is reasonable consumption.
