【题目翻译】
很多人认为我们应当鼓励廉价的飞机旅行,因为它给了普通人远行的自由。然而,另外一些人则认为这会导致环境问题,因此飞机旅行应当更加昂贵,以便减少人们的使用。谈论双方观点更给出你自己的观点。
【关键词分析】
cheap air travel
本题不是简单的飞机旅行的利与弊,而是问飞机旅行是否应当廉价。
【话题分类与题型】
本题是旧题,与2008年6月14日的考题完全相同,与2010年4月10日(见下)的考题也几乎一致。属于科技类与环保类的混合话题,题型为Discursive(Argumentation)。

Our school always encourages us to attend competitions and we enjoyed ourselves every time. Recently, a competition we attended the first time, known as the United States Academic Pentathlon ended and we achieved great success. We have earned 1 academic award and 3 awards for holistic education in total. In this essay, I’d like to summarize and provide feedback for the whole contest. First, I’m going to talk about my own experience and tips for succeeding in the contest. Then, I’m going to point out a few difficulties while preparing for the contest and give my suggestions. To achieve an academic award in this contest, you’ll have to understand the resource guide wholly and even remember menial details. I suggest reading the guide 3 times. For the first time, you’ll have to grasp the main idea of the whole timeline or structure. You can use a diagram to help you. When you read it the second time, you’ll need to read it more in detail to make a mindmap of your own. A point to note here is that the study guide that the Chinese Committee gave us only summarize part of the information from the resource guide and is thus not reliable. Finally, you can review the notes you made while reading that will probably appear on the objective test. One difficulty of this competition is contestants think that the English level required for reading the resource guide is too high. I don’t recommend using translation tools when reading for the first time, because this urges the need for translating the resource guide word by word even when you read it the second or third time. This slows your reading pace and you might run out of time in the real test. A better way to solve it is to learn the English definition of the vocabulary first on http://vocabulary.com. With the help of this website, you can create word lists and master all the vocabulary in no time. Furthermore, we should discuss more when all the team members gather each week. We can make questions ourselves in all subjects as Mrs.Rong said before. Last but not least, we should read the resource guide for all five subjects at once. We need to make a detailed schedule for each week, reading a chapter of all subjects. This method will prevent us from forgetting the subjects that we read first. Finally, I’d like to acknowledge everyone that contributed to the success of this competition, including the school, our teachers, and team members. Without their help, we may not succeed in this competition the first time. I hope with all that experience, we’ll do better next time. Thank you!
