Friendship contribute a lot to one’s happiness. I agree with the statement that ‘does the ability to maintain long-term friendships with a small number of people matters more than the ability to make many new friends easily.’ Friends can be so important to a person because they gave you strength and power. To begin with, old friends usually show stronger loyalty than those newly-acquainted friends. Old friends understood you more, because they had been cooperating with you for many years. They were capable with your bottom line, which they knew perfectly what things made you angry or what things made you feel good. They focused you more compare to our friends. They clearly comprehended your personality and characteristics. They always stand on your side and provide you with supports. However, these kind of things were usually missing in a short-term friendship. I have to admit that my opinion on this matter has been profoundly influenced by my own personal experience. You see, a few years before, I accidentally broke my leg. When I was staying in hospital waiting for surgeries, my best friend came to the hospital and took care of me. Since my parents needed to work, so every morning and afternoon, she stayed in the hospital and tried to encourage me. Although some of my ‘wide -range’ friends came to visit me. It’s clearly that long term friendship is much more reliable and the ability to main such kind of relationship is more critical. As a result, I was very surprised and delighted. For this reason, the ability to maintain long-term friendships with a small number of people matters more than the ability to make many new friends easily. Secondly, a long term friends showed more understanding to you. They were more familiar with you. For instance, they clearly knew what is your hobby, interests and some there thing. So, it is usually more comfortable for me to be with my old friends. They truly remember your living custom. Drawing from my own experience, if I was having a dinner with my closest friend, they were skip the food that contains coriander, because they knew that I hate coriander, they will also skip peanut because they knew that I was allergic to peanuts. On the opposite side, my ‘wide-range’ friends will not remember these because they didn’t notice. Moreover, I enjoyed the times while I was hanging with my old friends because they knew my interests and hatred. It's certainly clear to see why, the ability to maintain long-term friendships with a small number of people matters more than the ability to make many new friends easily. In light of the above-mentioned reasons, I strongly believe that the ability to maintain long-term friendships with a small number of people matters more than the ability to make many new friends easily.
