In judging from what is detailedly demonstrated in the above bar chart,we can observe distinctly that it illustrates the growth of the U.S.population in urban and rural areas from 1900 to 1990. A little less than 30 million folks lived in urban areas in 1900.This was the lowest number of urban population in the U.S.in the nine decades from 1900 to 1990.Similarly,the lowest number of rural residents was found same year.As the time went by,the number of urban population increased.The rising trend was slightly different from that of the population in rural area.The population increased to a little bit above 50 million in 1980 and kept unchanged from 1980 to 1990. The population in rural areas was larger than that in urban areas in 1900.Since 1920,however,the number of urban residents surpassed that of rural ones.The tendency continued throughout the time span.At last,urban were approximately three times of peasants in 1990. With the introduction of above mentioned,we have no difficulty but can obtain the conclusion. the number of citizens living in the urban area kept increasing dramatically while that of those in rural areas remained almost the same from 1900 to 1990.The U.S.people seemed to prefer living in cities to in rural areas in the period.
