I totally disagree with the opinion that businesses should do anything for making profits. Admittedly, the primary mission of a company is to make profits to meet employee’s material need and prompt the development of company. Only having enough profits, the company can augment stuff’s welfare to attract more elite join in and prevent brain drain from company; only having enough profits, the company can introduce new technology and cutting-edge equipment to enhance the productivity. Obviously, it is the profits that make a competitive edge in this age of globalization. However, Can you do anything for making profits? The answer is absolutely not. If the company adopts appropriate measures, such as attracting elite, starting to use states-of-art technology, and encouraging employee’s innovation mentioned above, to make profits, clearly, this company will be the leader of the same industry and respected by the whole society. For example, the Apple Corporation, the leader in the filed of cell-phone and computer, is the model of many people. But if the company adopts illegal things to make profits, not only it should be punished by the law, but it will be eliminated by the market and customers. This point can be illustrated by the example of Sanlu, a milk factory in China, in order to reduce the cost and earn more money, adds toxic matter to the milk, which results many children suffer from the illness. Finally, the company has to go bankrupt and the leaders were punished according the Chinese law. In summary, our society welcomes and encourages the company make profits following the legal requirements, otherwise, the company must be eliminated.
