Although the society has made great development and the technology advanced rapidly, all of the progress is made at the cost of the damage to the surroundings. Some people think that humans can do nothing to mend what they have done to the environment while the others hold an opposite opinion that the situation can be improved by taking effective measures. From my perspective, I couldn't agree with the latter view any more. With time going on, humans become aware of the negative consequences caused by themselves. Worse climate keeps warning people of the necessity of environmental protection. Most of the governments are united to face the problems and take actions to save the earth, such as signing agreement on reducing the CO2, encouraging people to take public transportations and sparing no effort to plant trees. Serious as the environmental problems, people throughout the world are searching for the methods of sustainable development. Alternative energy has been introduced to developing or developed countries. In the short term, it seems that there is no inspiring result. But from the long-term run, the measures are so effective that the environment must be improved.
