Nowadays some people think that the government should support more important things rather than artists. They hold the view that the government should spend more money in scientifical research and social services that can improve people's life quality. However I don't think so. My opinion is that art should be supported and encouraged by the government. It's no doubt that science research and social service, such as science and technology, education, medical treatment, etc., can step up people's living condition. Yet these can only fulfil people's material demands. To lead a quality life, we still need some spiritual fulfilments. Thus it's important for the government to invest in art development. For one thing, the human has physical and mental need in their lives. Art is a good way for people to express their emotion and ideas. The art forms have been existing dated back to the ancient days. Without inspiritional arts, our mind will gradually be more and more dull, which will block the development of science and technology as well as our economy. A highly civilised society always embodies prosperous culture and art. For another thing, art and culture are often characterized with geographical features, which work as a tie to unite a country. What's more, art enables us to look at the world with more angles of views and it can improve our creative and innovative capability. In a word, the government should support basic socila services and art development at the same time. Only in this way will out society be more and more healthy and energetic.
