Most of us have formed an unrealistic picture of the visit to sightseeing place during holidays. We sometimes imagine a beauty spot to be a sort of paradise where the sun always shines. The other side of the picture is quite the opposite. As tourism has become a booming business, there are so many tourists that they will bring harm to the environment. Some countries obtain large sums of money from tourism, but environmental destruction can be a secondary product of tourism. Firstly, people are likely to go out for a trip during public holidays. However, the environment can hardly afford the large population. Tourism environmental carrying capacity faces tremendous pressure because there are so many people in just a matter of days. Next, the lack of elementary civilization accomplishments among tourists cannot be ignored. Every year, there are destroyed antiques caused by tourists’ carelessness, and there is also some damage to ancient buildings. A small part of visitors who have little social morality are interested in carving their names on those old buildings. What a shameful conduct! It is they that leave behind a trail of rubbish wherever they go. Tourism will also lead to rising prices undermine the economic balance, the inconvenience of local residents, traffic jams, etc. We make money from tourism, but there is always a contradiction between development and preservation. The relationship between tourism and its environment is very close and subtle, so we must ensure that tourism develops in harmony with the environment. In a word, tourism development must adopt the resource-conserving and environment-friendly way.
